Admission 2019

There are two admission channels: TCAS Admission and Direct Admission. Please see below for the application procedure and criteria for each of these channels.

1. Admission through TCAS (for Thai candidates only)

Thai candidates with GAT/PAT scores may apply for admission to the program in TCAS Round 3. Applications can be made online at http://mytcas.com/ during 17 – 29 April 2019. When applying on TCAS, choose the following program:

  • Faculty: Engineering (International Program)
  • Program: Financial Engineering

Up to 20 candidates are expected to be admitted through this channel. Please see the application procedure and criteria at

2. Direct Admission

Thai and non-Thai candidates may apply for admission directly with the Faculty of Engineering, KMITL. Selection of successful candidates through the direct admission is based on the submitted academic records, standardized test scores, and an interview. There is no paper examination. Please see the application procedure and criteria below.

2.1 Applicant qualifications

2.1.1 Educational Background

The applicant must meet one of the following requirements:

(a) Graduated or studying in Mathayom 6.

(b) Graduated or studying in the final year of an international high school in Thailand or a high school/secondary school abroad.

(c) Obtained (or expected to obtain prior to the start of Academic Year 2019) a qualification equivalent to a high school diploma (please see https://goo.gl/iNS8Ks for the criteria for high school equivalency currently endorsed by the Council of University Presidents of Thailand)

2.1.2 Academic Records

The applicant should possess an excellent academic record and satisfy one of the following requirements:

(a) The applicant’s combined grade point average of all courses in mathematics that recorded in the applicant’s latest academic transcript has to be no less than 3.0 in 4.0 scale (or equivalent).

(b) The applicant has taken at least one of the following standardized tests and obtained a score which meets the minimum requirement as specified below:

  • SAT Math score of 600 or above
  • SAT Subject test (Math Level I) with a score of 600 or above
  • SAT Subject test (Math Level II) with a score of 600 or above
  • ACT Math score of 24 or above
  • AP test for a subject in mathematics with a score of 4 or above
  • GCE A-Level in a subject in mathematics with grade B or above
  • GCE AS-Level in a subject in mathematics with grade B or above
  • IB-Diploma with a score of at least 5 in a subject in mathematics
  • PAT1 (Math) with a score of 90 or above

Only a valid score report (i.e. not already expired) on the day of the interview will be taken into consideration.

2.1.3 English language proficiency

The applicant should possess good English skills and satisfy one of the following requirements:

(a) The applicant has obtained one of the following test scores and meets the minimum requirement specified below:

  • TOEFL (iBT) score of at least 79
  • TOEFL (ITP or paper-based test) score of at least 550
  • IELTS score of at least 6.0
  • Cambridge English Exams (FCE/CAE/CPE) score of at least 170

(b) The applicant has been studying for two years or longer in a school or a college outside Thailand in which the main language of instruction is English.

Only a valid score report (i.e. not already expired) on the day of the interview will be taken into consideration.

Note: The applicant who marginally fails to fulfill the above requirements on English language proficiency may be admitted upon the condition that he/she enrolls and passes some preparatory English as a Second Language (ESL) courses at KMITL before the start of the academic year. Additional fees apply.

2.2 Application procedure

2) Application fee payment

  • The application fee is 1,000 Baht for each program applied. The application fee is non-refundable.
  • Application fee can be paid by bank transfer. Follow the instructions given after the online application has been submitted. Payment must be received by the date and time shown in the right.
  • Applicants residing outside Thailand should contact the admission team (ic@kmitl.ac.th) for assistance on how to pay the application fee.

3) Interview

  • Every applicant who satisfies all the requirements (Section 1) will be informed via an email to come to KMITL for an interview. Exact time and location will be stated in the email.
  • Applicants who are residing outside Thailand at the time of the interview may request for an interview via video conference.

4) Admission decision
The list of the admitted applicants will be announced on the website 
www.reg.kmitl.ac.th. The decision made by the admission committee is final.
19 July 2019
5) Enrollment Confirmation and Tuition Fee Payment

  • Admitted applicants are required to confirm their intent to enroll at www.reg.kmitl.ac.th and pay the tuition fee for Semester 1/2019 in full via bank transfer.
  • Applicants residing outside Thailand should contact the admission team (ic@kmitl.ac.th) for assistance on how to pay the tuition fee.

2.3 Tuition Fees

The tuition fee rate for the program is THB 120,000 per semester.
